WELCOME TO MY FAMILY AT WAR TRIBUTE PAGE

()

This page details some of the known family members amongst my mothers's relatives and ancestors who went to war for their country. It is not complete and will be updated from time to time as I receive additional information. Photos are included where available together with any pertinent information regarding their service. To see any photo enlarged on a seperate page click on the individual photo.

Second world war 1939 - 1945

John Lawrence Woodward (1916 - 1952)

John Lawrence WoodwardMy uncle and the husband of Mona C. Roehr initially joined the army but later transferred to the air force where he served until the end of the war. On de-mobilisation he was involved in the maintenance of flying boats. He served in New Guinea where it is believed that he contracted the kidney disease which finally took his life. His widow was left with two children to bring up on her own including a small baby. They became Legacy wards and received much help from that organisation during their formative years and until they reached maturity.
